Half the photographs I love best are ones nobody hired me to take, shot on the way to the job rather than at it. Modelling pays and I am good at it, but standing still for a living makes you strange about your own face. Airports have stopped impressing me and yet I keep booking, usually somewhere with a festival on and a friend who knows which stalls are worth the queue.

Cool is the impression I give and I do not fight it, mostly because it keeps the wrong sort of conversation short. Open to something new, and slower about it than I look. Nobody gets told why I always take the same seat on a plane, or why I go quiet for the first ten minutes of a thunderstorm. Those two stay mine.
