Two of the sunflowers on my windowsill have turned to face the wall instead of the light, and I have decided they are making a point about something I have not worked out yet. Studying takes up the week, though most of my attention lives in the sketchbook I am not supposed to have open during a lecture.

Gardening began as an excuse to be outside and became the thing that actually settles me down. Photographs I take constantly and print almost never, which my friends find infuriating. People assume confidence means I am not paying attention, which is precisely backwards. Painting is the same, quiet on the surface and loud underneath. When I say goodbye I do it properly, one full sentence about the thing you said that stayed with me, and then I am out the door.
