Every tool on the wall hangs in its own painted outline, which probably explains why people read me as unforgiving before I have said a word. Fixing a thing properly takes as long as it takes, and no amount of hurrying from somebody who wants it cheap will change that. The garden behind the shop is the opposite of all that, slow, forgiving and entirely mine.

Photographs get taken of the plants far more than of anything else, a habit I do not try to defend. Painted models line the bench above the vice, dusted every Sunday, and nobody who knows me finds it odd. Living on my own, by preference, no drama attached. Time and help and the good tools go to whoever asks. Getting me to talk about myself is a longer project and most people give up first.
