Rearranging other people's kitchens while they make the tea is a habit I have given up trying to break, and yes, I do it in flats I have visited once. Twelve hour shifts teach you to fix what is in front of you, so the instinct follows me home and out again.

Cooking with someone is the whole evening for me, two knives, a bad radio station, an argument about salt. Travelling is how I spend everything I earn, usually somewhere with poor signal and better bread. After a hard week I want a long conversation that starts at midnight and ends when one of us gives in. Someone already has my Sundays, which I mention now so nobody has to guess. If I only got one question I would skip the small ones and ask what you are quietly pretending is fine.
