Not the sad parts of a film, never those, but some small kindness in the middle of an ordinary scene, and I am crying before I have noticed. Dancing is the job, so my body is honest even while my mouth is busy doing the shy thing. Rehearsal rooms have made me very comfortable being looked at and no better at all at small talk.

Travel is where I get loud, in a new city with nobody around me to be careful of. A kitchen with two people in it is my favourite room in any house. At home it is a film and something warm and a conversation that runs well past midnight. Single and open about that. Turning up prepared is the one thing I demand, of myself only, and never of anyone standing next to me.
