Four days of silence from me, then six messages at once, and no explanation ever offered for the gap in between. Teaching yoga has made me disciplined about precisely one hour of the day and no others, which I think is fair enough. The rest is a camera, a festival somewhere with terrible weather, and a shopping habit that arrives without warning and leaves nothing behind.

Cold is what gets assumed about me until roughly the third conversation, and then the assumption changes quite fast. Beaches out of season are the ones I like, empty and grey and nobody photographing anything. Open to something new, though I would rather show you than announce it in advance. There is one photograph on my wall that everybody asks about. I tell them it is nobody, change the subject, and pour out more wine.
