Turpentine and wet grass, the two smells my hands carry, depending on whether the canvas or the garden won that afternoon. Modelling is the job and it is easier than people think, mostly standing around being told to relax. Cycling is where I actually earn my dinner, long routes with no music and no company at all.

Gardening was a joke my friends kept making until the first summer of real tomatoes arrived. The plants are doing better than the paintings, which stings more than I admit out loud. Single, playful about it, and in no rush whatsoever to be otherwise. My worst habit is teasing past the point where it stays funny, then noticing roughly four seconds too late. Tell me to stop and I will, although I will probably start again by the weekend.
