Whether to pick up the extra shift is an argument I have with myself every Thursday, and the version of me who needs the money always wins by Friday. Nursing takes the best of my energy and gives back things I cannot explain properly at a party. Yoga is damage control for a back that complains constantly. It works roughly half of the time.

Festivals are where all that extra shift money goes, and nothing about that arrangement has ever been regretted. Complicated is where I am with a person, which is the honest word rather than the interesting one. Flirty comes naturally and warm comes first, in that order or it does not count. The morning after, what stings is always the two o'clock message, the one that was slightly too kind and far too early.
