Chose the bruised peonies for my own kitchen rather than throw them out, which is how my flat ends up full of flowers that nobody bought. The shop opens early and the first hour is water, stems, and a radio that nobody is listening to. Wrapping a bouquet for somebody who is obviously apologising is my favourite part of the week. Everybody wants roses and I will always try to talk them out of it.

Cycling gets me everywhere and hiking gets me out of my own head on the days off. Clear nights I stay out much later than is sensible, lying on the grass behind the shop with the lights off. Single, and in no rush whatsoever about it. The thing I am sorry about by breakfast is the message I sent at midnight when I was tired and honest.
