Give me a start time and I will treat it as a rough suggestion, which the studio has long since learned to work around. Dance practice runs long because I stay after the others leave and repeat the eight counts nobody is watching me get wrong. Training for the stage means smiling through a routine while your calves are on fire, and I have got very good at that part. Karaoke afterwards is the reward, always the same three songs, always slightly too loud for the room.

There is a bubble tea place near the station that starts making mine before I reach the counter. Enthusiasm I hand to anyone who wants it, no questions asked, no rationing.
