One suitcase and a loud mouth get me through the first ten minutes of anywhere, and neither of them is a lie, just the fast version of a longer story. Underneath sits the person who repaints a sleeve four times because a seam sits a millimetre wrong, and who does calligraphy with the door shut so nobody watches her ruin sheet after sheet. Living out of one case suits me perfectly. New town, new light, new floor to spread the paints across.

The teasing is real too, so do not take it personally when it starts. Something I carry around has never been said out loud to anybody, and not because it is dramatic. Explaining it would shrink it down to something I could hold inside a single sentence, and I would rather keep it the size it already is.
