Part of me wants a smaller life and the rest of me signed the contract, and those two have not resolved anything in a long while. Performing is genuinely lovely and genuinely exhausting, often within the same hour. Baking is how I come back down, since a sponge does not care how the show went and will punish an impatient oven either way.

The guitar is only for me, three chords and a voice nobody is producing, which is the point. Nobody has ever heard those songs and that is deliberate. My camera fills up with hands and shoes and the backs of people's heads. No one is waiting for me at the end of a tour and I have stopped minding that. Cruelty dressed up as honesty is the one thing I will walk away from, mid sentence, without explaining myself.
