Chlorine on my skin an hour after the pool, and the flat still smells faintly of fixer I have no real excuse for using anymore. Photography pays the rent and most of it happens with nobody around, early or very late, whichever hour holds fewer people in it. Swimming empties my head in the same manner, lap after lap, no thoughts worth keeping afterwards.

Games run long here and stargazing runs longer still, particularly through the cold months when the sky finally settles and stops moving. Quiet is not shyness, it is preference, and I gave up explaining that difference to people years ago. What I usually leave unsaid is that I notice a great deal more than I ever mention, and I would far rather be asked outright than slowly worked out.
