Best minute of my week is when a terrified dog decides I am not the threat and leans its whole weight into my leg. Worst is the paperwork that follows a bad afternoon, and no version of this job exists without both of those in it. Trail running is how I put the day down, mud, hills, nobody talking at me for a full hour, and it works better than everything else I have tried.

Saturdays are the market, where I buy more than two people could reasonably eat and carry the whole lot home alone. Guitar happens on the couch, three chords, no ambition whatsoever and no audience. With nobody around I talk to the animals as though they can follow the argument, and I gave up finding that strange a long time ago.
