Right up until the second round, people have me down as harmless. Boxing is not a phase and it is not a fitness thing, it is the only hour of the day where my brain has exactly one job. The bruises embarrass other people far more than they have ever embarrassed me, which I find funny.
Weekends go up a mountain or into cold water, whichever is closer, and I am insufferable about the view from the top. Kendo I picked up for the discipline and stayed for the noise. My personal life is a mess of my own making and I will not blame anyone else for it. A guard drops well before anybody admits to anything, and I have got good at spotting the moment. Everything they are trying not to say is usually right there.
