Up on the roof with cold coffee and a drawing that has been wrong since Tuesday, which is roughly where you will find me most mornings. Buildings are the job and the obsession, and the difference between a good stair and a bad one is about four millimetres that nobody will ever notice except me.

Salsa is the counterweight, one night a week where the only thing that matters is whether the count is right. Sketching happens everywhere else, on receipts, on the back of drawings I should be finishing. My phone is full of photographs of ceilings, which people find funny. Nothing serious is going on in my life and I am genuinely open about where that might go. I settle around a person who asks a second question, the one that shows they were listening to the first answer rather than waiting.
