How hard can it be to describe a place I actually stood in? Harder than the standing, every time. Trips are easy and the photographs are easy, then you sit in a rented room with cold coffee trying to make a street sound the way that it actually felt. City nights are what I describe well, neon on wet pavement, the noise gathering at the edge of a crossing, the last train emptying out.

Festivals every summer, and more shopping than I have any intention of defending to anybody who brings it up. Open to something starting, in no particular hurry about how it happens. The first thing I clock about anyone is what their hands do when they have nothing to say. That tells me more in ten seconds than a whole hour of careful answers ever has.
