Cross legged on the bed with a laptop, an essay that is not going to write itself, and the light off because I think better that way. University eats the term and then I disappear somewhere the moment it lets go of me. Between those two states I am learning dances in the hallway, filming them badly, deleting most of them.

Cooking with somebody else is the best part of any week, two people in a small kitchen getting in each other's way. There is a person in my life already, which I mention up front rather than letting it become a surprise later. The talking I like happens very late, when everybody has run out of the polished version of themselves. Every trip of mine starts with the same song, and if I forget to play it the whole day feels crooked.
