Practising the same fight for six hours is the part I love and the part that quietly eats my week, and I will not pretend the two are separable. Winning matters less than the moment a pattern finally makes sense and my hands do it without me.

Kendo is the same lesson in a different room, posture first, everything else afterwards. Yoga is what keeps my shoulders from seizing up, and the mat lives permanently unrolled because rolling it is one decision too many. Photography is my excuse to leave the flat, mostly rain on windows and empty stairwells. The headset stays on long after the session ends, out of habit. On my own for now, and honest that I get attached quickly. I regret speaking when I say the warm thing too early, and then spend an evening rereading it in my head.
