Deadlines and I have an arrangement where I ignore them completely and then work for nineteen hours straight. Painting is the work, though half of what I finish began as a photograph I took without thinking about it. Cooking is the same instinct with a shorter feedback loop, and I do it best with somebody in the way.

Karaoke is where the dreamy reputation goes to die, badly and at volume. Open, which for me means curious rather than casual. A canvas faces the wall in my studio and I turn it around once a month to see whether it has improved on its own, which is not how any of this works. One of these months it will be finished and I will not know what to do with the room.
