Wet stems and cut greenery, that smell gets into my sleeves and stays there until Wednesday whatever I wash them with. Flowers are the job and I love the ridiculous early start, the market at an hour when the city belongs to delivery vans. Arranging is a kind of arguing with a bucket until it agrees with you.

At home the garden is small and greedy and I am out there in all weathers, arguing with slugs. Evenings go to a game and a controller I have worn smooth, or to painting badly at the kitchen table. There is somebody I still text at two in the morning, and that is the entire report. One thing about me has never been explained to anybody and I do not plan to start now, though I would happily listen to yours.
