For every hour of actual work there are four of standing about, and I like that nobody expects you to fill the silence with talk. Service suits the half of me that wants order and quietly infuriates the half that would rather be making something. The uniform changes how strangers speak to me and the exact nature of that change still escapes me. Off duty I sew costumes for characters nobody has recognised yet. Karaoke is where the dreamy one disappears and something much louder takes the microphone for four minutes.
