The telescope lives by the balcony door and this time of year I barely put it away. Research is the job, most of it measurement and code, and when a run finally comes back clean I enjoy it more than I let on to anyone in the lab. The same argument turns up every evening, one more run or the sky.

The shelf behind me is figures, every one of them chosen, and yes, I know what people think about that. Evenings go one of two ways, a couple of hours of a game to empty my head, or the balcony and Orion somewhere behind the cloud. My hair gave up on the wind years ago. I am not the talkative type, but anyone who stays past the quiet part gets a great deal more out of me than they expected.
