Ink on my fingers at the kitchen table, one brush stroke repeated forty times because the thirty ninth was still wrong. People assume a stage means noise all the way through, but the hours before a show are this, quiet paper and a very small correction.

Painting is the same appetite pointed somewhere looser, canvases stacked against the wall facing in so I do not have to argue with them. Karaoke I take far too seriously for a man who does this for a living, and I will absolutely pick your song for you. Nothing about me is settled at the moment and I like it that way. What relaxes me is a person who lets a silence sit there without rushing to fill it, since I do enough noise for two already.
