Big and quiet gets read as unfriendly, right up until somebody needs a lift home at one in the morning. Engines are the work and I am good at it, hands black to the wrist by four every afternoon. A whole row of figures stands on the shelf by the door, arranged properly, and I have heard every joke there is.
Painting is where the day goes soft, and calligraphy is where I borrow patience I do not naturally have. Helping is not something people have to earn from me, and a few of them find that suspicious. Where I stand with somebody is complicated at present, and I will not dress that up. Tonight there is a brush to clean, a bad film I have already decided on, and the window open because the workshop follows me home.
