Replies from me arrive three days late or not at all, and it is never really about you. Studying takes the hours it takes, and on some nights I read something entirely unrelated until the light outside changes and sleeping has lost whatever point it had. Stars are the excuse I give for being on the roof, though half the time I am simply up there with nothing to look at.

Karaoke is the strange one, and the only place anybody has watched me enjoy myself without reservation. Put a microphone in my hand and somebody else takes over for four minutes. My regret is never the silence. It is the sentence let out too early, before I had worked out what I meant by it, which happens more often than I should admit.
