Rain on the fire escape and a radio through the wall from next door, which is most of what I can hear tonight. Police work is mainly paperwork and waiting, and the parts that are not are over long before anyone gets to be dramatic about them. Cases follow me home, so the flat stays deliberately bare and the lamp stays on far later than it should.

Stargazing began as a way to look at something that does not need solving by Friday. Gaming covers the nights when even that feels like effort, and dancing is a secret I keep badly.
