Because correcting people costs more than it has ever been worth to me, I let them file me under unfriendly and leave it there. The work is largely waiting and rereading the same statement until one wrong word stands out from the rest of it. The ride home takes the long way round, which stops me carrying any of it through the door, and cooking finishes the process, one pan, nothing elaborate.

Painting arrived much later than the rest of it and stayed. Those never get shown to anybody, and they are not going to be. My own situation is complicated, and dressing that up as mystery would be a lie. One thing about me has never been explained to a living soul, and every version I have tried comes out sounding like an excuse.
