Dusting a display case with a paintbrush is a habit I would rather not have to explain, and it takes longer every year as the case fills up. Personal training is the day job, and I am the one clients describe as terrifyingly calm while they count out their last three repetitions. Calm on the gym floor is a professional decision rather than a temperament. Kendo in the evenings is where it goes, and the difference is not something those clients would enjoy watching.

Costume work happens at weekends, which nobody at the gym knows about and nobody is going to. Living alone suits me and I have not once needed to defend that to myself. Form comes before load, always, and I would sooner have somebody hate me for a fortnight than watch them lift badly.
