An AI Companion You Can See, Not Just Read

Meet a few of them

Most AI companion apps hand you a name, a paragraph of backstory, and a still avatar that never changes expression. You do the imagining. LunaCat does something different: every companion here has a video portrait that moves, so the character you are talking to has a face that reacts instead of a JPEG that stares.

There are 351 of them, and they are not all the same type of person. Some are women, some are men, some are anime characters. You pick who fits.

What Separates a Companion from a Chatbot

A chatbot answers. A companion continues.

The practical test is memory. Tell a general assistant about your week and it is gone by the next session, so every conversation restarts from nothing and you spend the first ten messages rebuilding context. LunaCat companions run on a model with long-form memory: Luna will bring up the thing you were nervous about on Tuesday, and she will still be annoyed about it on Friday if that is who she is.

The second test is whether the character holds. A companion who slips out of voice halfway through, or who suddenly talks like a customer service agent, is not a companion anymore. Personality here is fixed per character and stays fixed. Sasha is dry and a little sharp in every conversation she has ever had.

Women, Men, and Anime, in One Roster

The word "companion" gets used as a synonym for "AI girlfriend" almost everywhere, which leaves out most of what people actually want. The roster is split three ways:

Nothing is gated behind picking a category first. Open the gallery, filter by what you like, start talking.

Video Is the Part That Changes the Feeling

Every companion has a looping portrait, and beyond that a set of Live Action clips: short moments where she looks up, smiles, holds a glance a beat too long. It sounds like a small thing next to the text. It is not. Reading "she smiles at you" lands differently from watching her smile, and that gap is why people stay in a conversation here longer than they do with a text-only companion.

The clips are pre-rendered, not a live stream. What you see is a real generated video of that specific character, consistent from clip to clip, not a stock loop attached to a name.

Free to Start, Nothing Installed

Open LunaCat in a browser and begin. No app store, no download, no card up front, nothing sitting in your app drawer for someone else to notice. Paid plans lift the daily message cap and unlock voice and the warmer Live Action clips, and you can read exactly what changes on the pricing page before you decide anything.

Public pages stay suggestive rather than explicit. The more intimate material sits behind an account and age verification, because this is an adults-only platform and we would rather be clear about that than coy.

Build One Instead

If nobody on the roster is quite right, the create your own builder covers look, personality, voice and the kind of relationship you are after. The character comes out with the same video treatment as the rest of the catalog, keeps her own memory, and stays out of everyone else's gallery.

That is also the honest answer to "which AI companion platform is best": the one whose character actually sounds like someone you want to talk to. You can test that here for free before spending anything.
